THE PINNACLE of cinematic prestige and exclusivity has arrived in Johor Bahru at last, with the opening of Aurum Theatre – Golden Screen Cinemas’ brand-new ultra-luxe boutique cinema.
Named after the Latin word and chemical element representing gold, Aurum is the leading cinema exhibitor’s flagship luxury brand, featuring opulent halls, contemporary continental dining, bespoke service and more.
Part of its offerings is the highly-anticipated Getha Lux Suites, which were announced earlier in September.
Specially designed by Italian architect, Marco Fumagalli, these innovative luxury recliners are made by Getha and feature the company’s trademark 100% pure natural latex foam cushioning, which gives customers extravagant comfort and support.
With plush pillows and a luxurious fleece blanket, movie-goers can snuggle up and relax on their Getha luxury recliners to enjoy their movie. There is even a wireless and USB charger for devices, a place to store one’s belongings, and a service call button to get personalized assistance from Aurum’s hosts.
Priced at RM150 per person, the ticket to Aurum Theatre’s Getha Lux Suites comes in a complete package with the Aurum Pass, which offers food and drink as part of the experience.
With this, customers have a golden ticket to sample and enjoy fresh food and drink from Jin Gastrobar, which serves made-to-order continental cuisine, prepared from the finest ingredients and by the most experienced chefs.
With the Aurum Pass, cinema-goers can choose from one of three unique culinary journeys including a curated meal platter with vegetarian options, selected ala carte dishes, or even signature cocktails from the bar.
Serving a myriad of main courses, sharing plates, gourmet snacks and more, from sizzling prawns to pan-seared scallops mentaiko pasta, Jin Gastrobar is a full-service restaurant.
Whether you’re brunching, lunching, or having dinner with friends, there’s a dish for every diner at Jin. As part of the Aurum experience, movie-goers can even have a selection of food delivered into the Getha Lux Suites, directly to their seat, all at the touch of the service call button.
The highlight of Jin’s selection of gastronomical delights, however, is the Gintonica – a special gin and tonic concoction of Spanish origin. Made with premium gin and a selection of high-quality tonics, finished with botanicals, the Gintonica in itself is worth the trip for those looking to wine, if not dine.

As the new gold standard in extravagant cinema experiences, Aurum promises true cinematic luxury, and we hope our customers look forward to spending their time with us, whether they’re celebrating special moments or simply treating themselves and loved ones,” said Ms. Koh Mei Lee, Chief Executive Officer, Golden Screen Cinemas.
